Almost as if their voices issued forth from the same mouth hole? Well now you can relax. Take a look at the following panel and all will become clear...


See, the guy on the left feels lonely and depressed and hides behind a drug fueled facade of amused detachment, while the guy on the right feels isolated and despondent and hides behind an alcohol charged mask of bemused indifference.
